I was looking through some old threads and found a user having the title of “guest”. They wouldn’t be a guest if they were a signed-in user, and if you’re a guest you can’t post.

Is this some kind of old feature that was removed?

In a coffee shop.
Under the old forum software (vBulletin) it showed Guest and now with the current software (Xenforo) it shows Cancelled.

Is there any practical difference between them in how they can (subsequent) access the forum in order to make a post?

I seem to recall (and this is quite a few years ago), that when one had the title/rank "Guest", one could still post in the forum (even if some who held that designation did so but infrequently), whereas "Cancelled" is more of a permanent departure?

Of course, I could be completely wrong in my reading of this.
