So I have a weird problem with my web browsers. When I visit CNN and try to view a news clip like:

http://www.cnn.com/video/?hpt=hp_mid#/video/world/2012/02/10/nr-churkin-russian-amb.cnn

the page loads fine in firefox, chrome, and safari, but the video clip only plays in Safari. The video does not play in Chrome or Firefox at all. Here is what I have tried:

  • Uninstalling Flash using the Adobe utility and then reinstalling the latest version.
  • Emptying all the web browsers' cache files.
  • Reinstalling Firefox and Chrome, along with deleting their preference files from my Library directory.
None of these steps have fixed the issue. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks.

What ad-blockers, plug-ins or extensions do you have installed?

I don't have any extensions or ad-blockers installed in Chrome or Firefox. Here are the plugins I have installed:

You might try disabling or removing all plugins and see if the video plays. If it does, add the plugins back one at a time, until you find the one (if any) that interferes. You could also try doing this by first creating a new user account on your Mac and testing from there.
