stream a DVD (disc) movie?

I am considering buying a Apple TV for my bedroom. I don't want to get a
DVD player or anything clunky.

My question, can you stream rented DVD movies from your iMac to the Apple TV? I don't mean files here, but actual BlockBuster DVD discs.
