Could someone please compare and contrast AirVideo and Zumocast?

This is the first that I have heard of Zumocast and I generally dont like to have too many apps on both my MBP and my Ipad, so in this case, what does one do that the other doesnt? Thanks!

The main differences between AirVideo and ZumoCast is this:

AirVideo is video only. So you will only have access to video files. If you want to access your videos outside your local LAN, you may run into issues if your router doesn't support it. ZumoCast has a proxy server feature that will automatically kick in if your router blocks you. ZumoCast also has web access where you can log into any PC and access your data from. AirVideo does have subtitle support, where ZumoCast doesn't. We are working on it though. Thanks again!

does zumocast know to resume from where you last left off like airvideo?

that was the main reason i chose airvideo over orb because orb has no resume function.

thanks

We do have resume functionality, but there are a parameters.

ZumoCast will resume if you are at least 30 seconds into the video, and if the video has more than 3 minutes remaining. In other words, for clips under 3 minutes, you will not have the resume feature. Any clip longer than three minutes, you will need to be 30 seconds into it before resume saves your spot, and once you reach the point where you have under 3 minutes remaning, resume goes away.

Hope this helps. Thanks!

The difference for me between AirVideo and Zumocast is one of quality. The video on AirVideo was much cleaner and looked really good while the Zumo one was a bit disappointing and pixelated. However, AirVideo only does video and Zumocast does music too which is what I needed and it is EXCELLENT for this purpose. So I'm pretty happy with it.

One thing that has annoyed me a bit is that I have an item in my finder under the "shared" section that shows my computer (I guess?? Not sure really. It shows Your-XXXXXXX where the x's equal a bunch of numbers and letters) but doesn't really give any info on what this entry is. I don't know which program has done that since I installed both the AirVideo server and Zumocast server (along with dropbox too) at all about the same time, but I don't like not knowing what something is like that. Especially when it is sharing something somewhere. Makes me uncomfortable.
