Streaming Audio

I know there are some posts regarding streaming audio, but they are a few months old. Has anyone had any luck finding a way to stream audio to the iphone? I would be willing to work on something, but I am wondering what formats the phone currently supports.

What do you mean by stream? Using an MP3 or m4a from a site works, as do MP4.

I currently use an application called Subsonic to stream music to my Mac's. It creates a m3u file or you can directly access a stream, but when I try it on the iPhone it will not work. I was hoping to use something other then going with Orb to do this.
