I have attached two screenshots of the Panny camera over iphone. The one on the right is what the page looks like as a whole (see my dog off to the right). On the left hand side is the panning and tilting control bar. I have zoomed that in the picture on the left.
While this looks very nice I couldn't justify getting the cam unless their is an app released for the iphone.

Just wondering for those that have tried the QIk.com on a jailbroken phone - whats the fps roughly?

I'm so tempted to jailbreak just for qik right now, as Apple have been doing a wait till it's ready on us. The phone is capable of it, and there are apps out there for those jailbroken, just not official yet (and qik is apparently in the process of applying to the App Store currently afaik, but Apple might slow them down until the video side is fixed).

Ya, using the website provided by the camera works great for seeing the picture. Actually surprisingly well over the 3G network. I was impressed. However, using the buttons to move the camera around could definitely use improvement. If someone built an app for this I would be pretty freaking excited. (hint hint)

:bump:

I just jailbreaked (wish I had done it sooner) but I can't find anything.

Anyone able to view a live webcam...?

Surprised nobody said this yet.... the Air Cam app. its 7.99 and allows you to view a webcam over your iphone. I paired it with the iSight camera that comes on the Macbook Pro. I use it to spy on my dog while i'm at work. link and screenshot below (you can see my dog on the right on the couch -- which he's not supposed to be on!!):

Not only do I receive streaming video, I can pan and tilt both cameras using the mobile browser. Highly recommended.

Sorry, I should have been more involved in this thread but I didn't realize I actually have some useful experience.

1) Recording video streams can only be done to a PC using Panny's software (free for one camera). Please note, if you have more than one video camera, the software is only available for a fee and is VERY costly. In lieu of this, as a no-cost, non-PC option, you set the motion sensor to take a series of photos and send them to an email account (recommend using Gmail for this - previews the photos and has 5GB+).

2) The interface on the iphone looks just like it does on the computer. Your preset buttons (for panning left/right/up/down) work perfectly and you can pan and tilt the camera easily. Note: the zoom does not work through the iphone (it blows anyway, so no biggie). Also, there is no sound when accessing using the iphone.

3) The camera is accessible through your personal password enabled webpage on Panny's "homenetcam" website. The site is free for life and is rock solid (I have had my cameras for more than a year and the site has never been down).

4) Initial setup can be a bit of a pain but is not difficult. If you run into problems, Panny's tech support for the cameras is first rate.

Overall, highly recommended. I have both the wired and wireless cameras. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I owe this board a solid for all the useful advice that has been posted here.

Wow, thanks for all the info! These look awesome!

I am now forced to go out and spend $275 so that I can watch my dog sleep while I'm at work. On the plus side though, yelling at him over the answering machine for getting into the trash will never be more fun. :D

ROFL! :p

Any chance Panasonic will release an iPhone app to work with these cameras? Or should we be begging developers to write one? Automatic logins, audio, snapshots & the ability to change the settings would be pretty awesome...

That would truly be great!

I'm so anxious to see a REAL demo of one of these in action on the iphone, anyone care to or have any recorded video to show us?

you guys like to make things difficult. The Iphone supports MJPEG (motion jpeg) cameras and regular webcams. To do the regular webcam thing, download a program called "Yawcam" and get it setup. Great program and its all free and you can watch streaming video on your iphone. You can also use multiple webcams hooked up to your computer at the same time with this program and your iphone. Im using 2 right now and you just switch back and forth. Just use safari and log onto http://youripaddress:8081 . you can setup a name and pw too if you like.

Anyone tried "At home Camera"? Webcam streaming & recording? If you ignore the retarded reviews it seems to be a 5 star app.

JumiCam for iPhone

with JumiCam you can view your webcam connected to any XP/Vista 32bit PC from your iPhone using wifi or 3g
the lite version if free and allows u to see your webcam within your local network.

im not lying, i just peed my pants laughing at this. i imagined my dogs getting into the trash and then doing that too them. they would cower away and hide underneath the barstools hahaha. im gonna have to try doing that sometime. definetly worth 275, as long as i can record it and send it in to AFV

I'm interested in getting a couple of Panasonic cameras for security at the front and rear of my residence and am wondering if they are still working well with the native Safari browser in iPhone 3G(s)?

Ideally it would be responsive enough that if my wife were home alone and the doorbell rang she could pull the front door camera up in a reasonable amount of time and see who was there before answering.

It would seem as though a dedicated application for controlling these cameras and being able to save snapshots to the camera roll would be ideal.

The commercial panasonic cameras that provide the same IP webserver capabilities but also record to SD card cost $450 and up. Ouch.

Last question, does anyone with the Panasonic cameras know if there is an application that you can run on a Windows box to record the camera feeds 24/7 on a loop? I use a mediasmart for file sharing and would love to be able to use it to record on a 24 hour loop from a couple of these cameras.
