Hello Everyone,

I hope my lines find you well.
For several months i use a synology NAS where I slowly stored all my multimedia files including movies and music.
To stream movies and series, I used to run Plex server on NAS but I recently moved to Infuse pro player embedded in Apple TV 4K for a rather fluid experience.
Problem is that Infuse does not play music and I do not want to run iTunes server on NAS ; the latter requires to keep iTunes active on iMac at the same time whereas I am looking for a TV centric usage only especially for kids who know how to deal with it.

Another Q I have is about browsing ebooks on a TV set. Is there any dedicated app for that in Apple TV portfolio?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Any ideas for a Windows machine? If Infuse did music it would be perfect, sadly it doesn't, so I'm looking for something as well.

AirParrot claims to be. But its just me reciting internet.
I never tried it myself.
Thank you but it will not work as AirParrot has to be installed on Windows or Mac. What I am looking for is a no computer solution which is only based on Synology NAS and Apple TV 4K

Plex will stream music from your NAS to the Apple TV. Very expensive Roon is also an option for QNAP and Synology, although there may be stereo issues.

I was not aware of Roon, thank you for the expensive info ;) That would be perfect to stream to some pearl or phantom
but harware requirements are quite high : Roon server needs an SSD and CPU wise my 918+ does not qualify :/

About Plex usage, I tried to scan my music library which is not so big (50k tracks) and it literally never ended : I had process running for more than 2 weeks with CPU in the 80-100% zone, without being able to finish. I decided to stop it resumed it and it was stopped again at the same Mozart folder so I simply gave up. Also it seems plex interface is very basic with no slideshows which is also a reason why I moved to infuse for movies and series.

I know. User KBJ55 specifically asked for Windows solution.
During my D-Link NAS days, it had the iTunes Music sharing function (aka AirTunes aka very first AirPlay) built-in.
The iTunes Server service was called FireFly.
I wonder how can Synology be without?

There is an iTunes server available for Syno but to use it you need an apple computer and itunes on it to manage your libraries.
Using iTunes app on apple TV does not bring much as it also requires an apple computer to sit around. As I have an hybrid environment and would appreciate an easy set up for kids I prefer to directly browse on TV set through Apple TV

If you are doing basic Roon streaming without using special features you may be OK. I run on a 1019+ from disk and haven't had any problems. They have a 14 day trial so you might try it to see if it works.

I may be seeing the same thing. Created the folder when did my initial reply and it is still scanning 10 hours later, evidently stuck on one album.

VLC Player app for TVOS will stream music and video from NAS. It doesn't have a colorful interface. Very basic.

Thank you fro your suggestion, I tried VLC app for Apple TV but I found out it is full of bugs. I was not able to browse or play properly. It seems that there is no obvious solution

Bump !
By chance is there any other way to stream music from NAS to ATV that would have emerged over the last 6 months ?

Try FileBrowserTV - it connects directly to my USB disks shared thru multiple routers. Kludgy folder & file based interface but it gets the job done. Handles my videos (.mov, .mp4, .m4v), photos (.jpg, .bmp, .tif), music (.mp3, .wav) & probably others. Wish Stratospherix would put their IOS music app on Apple TV.
