Stress on Thunderbolt port?

I currently use a Mini-DP to DVI adapter on a little laptop stand, but the weight of the cord looks like it is straining the port a little bit. Is this something that I need to worry about?...or is it really negligible? I felt that the old Mini-DVI was more robust of a connector.

The TB/MDP port is very solid.

I'd worry about the stress on the adapter more than the port itself. You don't want to bent the connection too much.

The port is just as durable as the old mini display port. It's the same connector.
