Hi Folks,

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010), the model with two graphics cards. I updated my OS to 10.10 about two months ago. When I first installed the update, I had a vertical strip of pixels on my display which were discolored and distorted. The problem progressed to the pixels in the strip constantly flickering. I did the standard SMC reset, etc., but nothing helped. Luckily, the problem went away after a few days on its own. Now, (about a month later) the issue has reappeared, minus the flickering (at least for now). See the attached picture. The issue seems like its purely a graphics problem.

My macbook has the following graphics cards:
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics processor
Intel HD Graphics with 256MB

I'd appreciate if someone can help me resolve this issue. Thanks.

could be the cable or connections from the logic board to the display or a problem with the GPU, usualy the GPU failures make distorted glitches rather than a strip that has disappeared.

Since 2010 models are known to have defective GPUs, I'd say it may be that, but as the other poster mentioned. The typical symptoms are distortions. Either way its probably a hardware issue.
