Hi Guys,

Upgraded one iMac (late 2009) to ssd with a caddy on cd space and all went well but after having a failed update from appstore (10.13.6) the computer always gets stuck on windows recovery/BSOD with error code: 0xc0000225 even using cmd+alt+p+r or trying to use alt option it never responds. Im using an non apple keyboard in this case is a ewent keyboard that was working fine before making the required software update. Before the upgrades the windows partition was deleted using disk utility and now i know i should have used Bootcamp app instead!

After solving the first question, how to delete the windows recovery partition?

Thank you in advance.

Your Mac is too old for internet recovery. You could create a bootable USB installer of High Sierra, boot into that and use Disk Utility to wipe the drive. If it's not the boot drive you want to wipe you could simply boot into Mac OS and wipe it the drive using Disk Utility.

Isn't the blue screen the ultimate windows experience?

It's not that simple.
I have iMac 2010.
I installed Windows on one SSD. High Sierra on another SSD.
Even when I removed the Windows SSD, the option to boot to Windows still exists on the boot pickers. Select that option will result in a windows typical BSOD, as the Windows SSD is not attached to the system. PRAM reset will result in the system give priority to booting Windows.
I had to use Bootcamp assistant to remove that option, which is stored in the hidden EFI volume on the High Sierra SSD.

OP: If you don't have any data stored in the system, the quickest solution is re-install OS using USB installer.

You can mount the hidden EFI volume using the Terminal on Mac OS if you like or using the command prompt in Windows.

I don't know why, but when I used Opencore Configurator to mount the EFI volume, there was only 1 EFI for both Bootcamp & High Sierra on the SSD.
So, to be on the safe side. I used Bootcamp assistant to remove Bootcamp option, and it's kind of work.

But you need to boot to High Sierra first, which doesn't work in OP case, as no key combination worked for him. I was in the same situation before, and had to make a OCLP USB to booth from there first, then do PRAM reset from its menu. Kind of work around solution.

Hi guys,

thanks for all replies. Eventually managed to remove the windows recovery partition by connecting a firewire cable to another Mac and then using an app to remove windows leftover partition, only then I could use the "alt" option to start from the usb OS installer.

Now the person that uses the computer just told me it doesn't turn on, hope to solve it again :)
