Anyone else experiencing this problem? iTunes backed up my iPhone and now its stuck on a window that says 'Contacting the iPhone activation server'. It's been stuck on it for over 20 minutes now.

Prior to this iTunes had trouble backing up my phone then failed to recognize it after multiple attempts. I finally reinstalled iTunes 8.2 and then it started the backup successfully but now its stuck on this prompt.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I right clicked the iTunes icon in the Dock and clicked Quit. Then it stopped giving me this message and went to "Preparing iPhone for restore..."

Worked after that. iTunes quit immediately after the restore, though. You just have to open it back up to activate the phone again.

This brings back so many nightmares of 2.0. I'm scared to death to upgrade after last year. I'll probably wait it out for a couple of days until the rush dies down.

i keep getting this:
