Stuck on "preparing update"

Seems to have downloaded, but is stuck about 90% of the way through. Should I shut down and try again, or are others having this problem?

This process was really slow for me. Hopefully you didn't stop it, because it will ultimately work.

Yup, once it hit preparing download, the bar was moving, VERY SLOWLY but it was moving and it eventually completed and restarted and installed the new iOS.

My iPhone 3GS took 30 mins to do the last 5% of "preparing update", and another 20 odd mins to install the upgrade after that. Just give it time, and plug it in to a charger so that the battery does not go flat.

Yeah it took a long time after it hit 90% on both my 4S and iPad1. Just let it do its thing and be patient.
