I'll buy that. Done it myself a few times.

And therein lies the conundrum. Yes, we can gloat a little when someone ignores our advice and then comes running back to us to help fix their PC; yes, we often view ourselves as superior because of that. But the fact of the matter is, it's not an exclusionary club. Anybody can buy a Mac, and become an elitist too!

Just to play the devil's advocate, what happens if they follow your advice ad come running back for help with their Mac? Then does someone who recommended that they get a PC get to gloat? I would say that analogy is a double-edged sword to use in favor of either side.

Gloating at the expense of others on any side is an incredibly immature thing to do.

That is very true, I don't dispute that. I don't make comments when Mac or PC users have problems, although that may be in part to the fact that I get paid to fix them.

Srry, I wasn't accusing you of that, I was merely using your post as a springboard of sorts for my comment.

It annoys me after Apple events when that one guy who called it comes back and shoves it in everyones face. Then others go and say we should apologize for not beleiving him. It's incredibly immature.

hmm... I don't associate mac with my identity at all so when I do hear something along the lines of me being a snob because of my computer I'm a bit of a deer in headlights. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of candidates in the 'stable and generally reliable' category of the computer market. I've dabbled in Linux, which might be the best alternative on non-mac hardware, but I found it to be a bit difficult to use.

I have both a mac and a pc, so I don't consider myself a snob. When I worked for sbc internet most of the mac users were snobs though. Luckily it was only like 1/100 calls and the problems were easily fixed (unless they were running os 9).

I like them both, even during my more rabid Mac years I still always had a PC by my side.

Now I'm a snob in that I need both. I need XP for games, for developing. I need OSX for media stuffs, web and graphic design, music producing etc.
