Hi all

Since this week I have some issues with my 5,5 year old Macbook Pro.

I was working on my Macbook when suddenly it became unresponsive, I couldn't do anything anymore besides holding down the power button. The fans did not speed up.

I restarted and when the login screen appeared I moved to my account but my mouse froze before I could get there. Again I restarted and I could get past the login screen but I didn't get a dock and once more my mouse was unresponsive.

I decided to reinstall a time machine back up and this did resolve the issue for one boot up. After the second boot, I couldn't get past the login screen. I did another time machine back up (from the same date though) and for now everything is going like it should, I restarted a couple of times and it seems to hold.

But what could be wrong? Is the hard disk failing or the RAM? Although it would surprise me, because I also have Windows XP installed and during these issues this kept running fine.

Maybe noteworthy: it got a new logic board after 1,5 year because of the Geforce 8600M GT issue.

Thanks!

I discovered this is because during the week I live somewhere else where I have to use an ethernet cable to access the internet. During the weekend I'm at home where I have access to wireless internet and the problem does not occur.

Also disconnecting the ethernet cable after a freeze has occurred does not solve it. It keeps on freezing after a while...

I seem to find no one else with a similar problem...
