I went to BB to buy the new 13" macbook air... it's listed as 1199 on best buy, but 1149 with my student discount at apple. The apple rep inside best buy said i would get a $150.00 best buy gift card if I purchased that one with a student ID or student email. Sweet deal.

Did you do it?

I haven't been married long.... but I plan on staying married awhile, so figured I'd go home and talk over a major purchase with my wife first.

I see Best Buy is selling (last week's) 13" MBP model for $999 now...can I still get the $100 BB gift card if I buy that model? And I don't see anything on their website about a $100 gift card for students, does this have to be done in-store? Thanks!

You do not get a gift card for the MD313LL/A. Gift cards are distributed in store. The process for that is a little different this week.

I thought it's only a $100 BB gift card? And this was the macbook air model they just released?? I want that deal! Did you buy it?? I'm trying to score a deal but it's getting harder and harder each year as they get cheaper and cheaper with the freebies.

Don't complain that they are getting less expensive. Lol

Yes, done in store and you may have to ask for it. And it may only apply to the new MacBooks. No prob!

I bought a 27" iMac not long ago from BB, They gave me Student discount without even ID haha. I kinda knew the guy there, but YES you can get student discount at BB.

Anyone have any luck getting the Retina MBP at Best Buy? The store closest to mine hasn't received any yet, but "maybe tomorrow" which would be better because they are much closer.

Called my local Best Buy down the street, the lady I spoke to was surprised that they actually received a shipment of RMBPs. Unfortunately, I won't be able to purchase one until Friday, and she said it was hit or miss if they would still have one by then.

Thankfully, I don't think a lot of people will be checking out this location, it just doesn't get much business. They never sold out of the iPad 3.

Are they out and for sale today?

I don't know if they have them on display yet, but the lady said they were in stock and could be purchased.

Wish you could go get yours now. I would be there.

I drove around 100 miles today trying to get one with no success. Best Buy, on the other hand, is 3 minutes away. Please have them tomorrow NL BB!

I just called my Best Buy, at first they had no idea what a Retina MBP was. Then they said they had them in 13", I said no they don't make them in 13". Then she checked again and reassured me that she did and that it is on their website. I said "13" with Retina Display?" She transferred me and the new guy was just as clueless and said that they don't do education discounts.

I went to Best Buy today. I was looking at the 15" and they told me it would get a $100 discount + a $150 gift card. But I didn't ask about the 13" MBA and MBP. If I get a 13", I will only get $50 + $100 gc?? Is that because it is less expensive? Thanks!

No, but they price match, that's the card I pull on them when they play that game. Pull it up on the EDU site, and say "I want you to match that price"

Apple's edu pricing off the standard MBPs is $100 and $50 for the Air. The MBPr is the only one with a $200 discount.

To the poster who said that there is no SKU generated yet...The best buy webpage has a SKU for both configs of the retina MBP. Are these really just sitting in the stock rooms of best buy right now for no reason?

This whole best buy thing has been a disaster. First they told me they would give me $100 discount + $150 gc. Then another store said they wouldn't do that. Then today I went back to the original store that said they would do it, and they told me now they wouldn't. I got pissy, then they said they would match the ed discount but of course they didn't have the model I wanted. Went another best but and he told me they arent allowed to give $100 discount bc the apple rep yelled at them. So I'm still without a Mac, and it seems the longer I wait the more screwed I get.
