I haven't been an active student for over a year now. However I HAVE been accepted to college. According to this link: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/campaigns/education_pricing?mco=MjIwNTQzODI

"Students who have been accepted to college are also eligible", So can I apply for student discount when I go buy my iMac? (do I just show them my Student ID?) I would be going to the physical Apple Store, not my college book store...

    Thanks! :)

You should be fine if your college has a book store than I would go there they normally have the discount figured into the price so you will not need to worry about it. However if you are planning on financing the computer the college book store would probbaly be the best solution they charge extra usually around 200.00 bringing the price of the Mac to about retail price. If this is the case just call apple tell them where you will be attending and they should give you the discount over the phone or via internet. But to answer your question once you are accepted you should be fine obtaining the Education discount. Just make sure you get enough machin for the duration of your degree rather than on the cheap side or you may find yourself buying a beefier machine down the road.

Good luck on your educational adventures.

Make sure you have a valid study id card with a valid expiring date.

Then buy on the apple online store - phone them and ask for the student discount :)

If you use the online Applestore they probably wont even ask you if you really are a student or have been accepted...

And what about going to the (physical) Apple Store itself, can I still show them my ID? Do I still qualify if I go there? (I don't think I'll be ordering online)

If you order online you don't need identification...at least I didn't use it when I ordered this iMac. When purchasing in the store you need to provide a valid ID from your school, which I had to do to purchase a new MBP this spring

You can show the acceptance letter... and you need a Drivers License or other state ID to prove who you are... some stores are even fine with just the DL and just tell them you are accepted... the rules are lax as they dont need to copy your letter or student ID... but some stores seem to like to assert themselves in following the letter of the law.

I just bought an iMac this past weekend, asked what school I attended, checked drivers license but not university ID.
