hey everyone, my current laptop is on the way out and i'm going to be purchasing a new Macbook. I'd do i now but i am concerned that on July 11th they might add the iphone to the current student deal of get a new macbook and get free ipod touch. What does everyone think, is it a possibility they will expand the student discount to iPhones?

Don't think so, they didn't do it last year when AT&T wasn't subsidizing the iPhone, so it's less likelier they'll do it this year.

As a student myself, i highly doubt there will be a discount for the phone itself, but there is one for the monthly charges. Mine is 15% :)

no discounts on the device itself. the only discount you can get is on service. and thats only if you work for a company who gets discounts on at&t

Why not buy the macbook and get the free ipod touch, then sell the ipod and put the money toward a new iPhone 3G?

now im on the site but i cant find the data plans, the only ones i can find besides the blackberry ones are like dataconnect 5MB.... where r the unlimited ones

also, i checked the company that im doing an internship with over the summer and i get more of a discount with them. i wonder if it only applies when im working for them, or if i just have to provide the email when i sign up

Sometimes the data plans are not included in the deal between you school/company and AT&T. For my school I can see the unlimited data and text plan but when I went to another company's Premiere account they did not have the unlimited data discounts.

hmm, i tried it from both my company and my school, and there was not even a tab for text plans

Sweet! It even works for current AT&T users like me...

"Congratulations — the certification process is complete!

To the extent you are eligible to receive a service discount, you should start receiving the discount within one (1) to two (2) billing cycles."

Thanks for the insight!!!!!!!!!!!!

The chance of the phone ever being given a student discount is unlikely, the discount usually just applies to computers. They are already stretching it a little far with the iPods and they are mainly being added to add an incentive to buy a Mac. Expecting the phone to be added to the discount is asking a little bit much.

The discount is typically a certain percentage of your monthly bill (Mine is 15%). They discount everything automatically (right now I have just voice and text), so you don't have to ask for a specific text plan discount.
