No, they're trying to show how stupid zero-tolerance is. The article makes the school administrators look like morons. That's the other half of what makes it funny.

it's an attack agiainst zero tolerence,dude... it's not supporting it -- its purpose is to show how stupid the legislation is. sure, it's a serious subject, but satire is a great way of combatting it so that people can see the problem with those laws.

the big hook was you are so wound up in your little highschool hell of zero t that you took it seriously. Zero T originated on your borders, people with tiny amounts of drugs went to jail and lost their cars etc, for what amounted to crumbs or dust. and you wouldn't have zero T if you weren't killing each other at school!
