Hello,

I just received my Studio Display with nano-texture and height adjustment.
But as soon as I putted it on my desk, it was pretty clear that the display was not perfectly level...
Indeed, I can mesure a 2,5mm difference from one side to the other.

I contacted Apple and they agreed to make an exchange but I'm afraid the next one will have the same.
I know the Apple community talked a lot about such problems on M1 iMac but I wanted to start this thread to see if other Studio Display owners are affected by that problem too.

Any feedback very much appreciated.
Have a beautiful day.

Mine is not crooked and the vast majority and I mean very vast majority are not crooked either or they’ll be on this thread faster than lickety-split. I have only read two other post since the Studio Display was offered That were slightly unleveled.

It sucks that you got a crooked one, but as 3Rock says, there are relatively few reports of this here on MR, so I don't think this problem is widespread. Apple will make it right for you.

I'm waiting now to see if Apple allows me to keep the screen till I received the new one ( 8 - 10 weeks).

No issues with mine. Since this is the first report I’ve seen of crookedness, I think it’s not common at all.

Where is the slant coming from? What is causing it?

Is the bottom of the base flat against your desk? Is the aluminum bent? Is it crooked going into the back of the monitor, or is it the height adjustment hinge?

I'm surprised you can spot a 2.5mm difference with the naked eye. Since it's so small, have you tried twisting/flexing it in the other direction to level it out?

That doesn’t look like the new 27 inch studio display to me. Large bezels is a giveaway. What kind of monitor do you have there?

My desk is perfectly level just like the 27" iMac I had before.

It seems it appears on the first hinge that links the screen to the height adjustment mechanism.

I tried to move the screen but it returns automatically.

The bezels look large because of how the thumbnails are cropped, but the ruler tells a different story as iStorm pointed out.
OK that makes sense I was looking at the bezels. it looked quite large for the studio display. thanks for the update

Hi everyone,

I recently saw a video from YouTube where the user seems also to be concerned by this problem...

I had two and side by side they were crooked I'm 100% sure there is manufacturing variance from model to model and the tolerance is like 1-2 degrees unfortunately

Thank you for your feedback. Do you also have the height adjustment option ?

It may only occur with this option which could explain why so few people are talking about this problem as most of the sales should have the standard stand.

I received my replacement screen today and it arrived crooked again...
It's even worse than the previous one with almost a 3mm difference between each side.

So frustrating but it shows clearly that some Studio displays are affected by crooked displays just like the iMac...
But as these displays are so low in volume compare to iMac, it seems that it won't exceed the MacRumors forum and the Apple community.

Feel free to use this post to share your experiences.

That sucks. Guess it's time to order the VESA mount version so there's no worry about a crooked stand or mounting.

I'm only half serious. A crooked display is completely unacceptable for a $1500+ device, let alone a $400 one.

To those with displays that aren’t level, make sure the surface it sits on is level, first.

I bought the height adjustable one yesterday and i didn't know about this problem until i opened it at home.
Mine has a 0,6 mm difference... Very very disappointed by this.. I brought it back to the reseller and they also immediately saw how crooked it was..

I just don't understand that they didn't engineer it so that you could adjust it to be leveled.. I don't mind unscrewing some things to adjust it but the thing is when i call apple they tell me not to do that and just return it.
I had to wait 8 days for this one and now they're all out of stock so i have to wait 1 to 5 weeks..
