Picked up an ASD standard glossy and tilt yesterday. I'm upgrading from an LG Ultrafine 4k 24 inch, which has served me well for a few years. Here's the problem, I find the ASD too high. Even if I was to get the height adjustable version, it doesn't go any lower, only higher.

The image on the LG starts at about 10.5mm off the desk in its lowest position.
The image on the ASD starts at about 13mm off the desk.
The image on the ASD continues approx 7.55mm higher than the LG's ends.

I'm not a tall person, about 5'4. I can't get any taller... Short of returning this and reordering with a VESA mount or trying to get the apple store to swap the stand out when that option becomes available? My neck & eyes are straining looking up I'm used to looking forward or down.

Thanks!

Why not purchase a good height adjustable chair? I have one that is height adjustable and raise it up to accommodate the level of my 27" iMac. No neck or eye strain.

My office chair is height adjustable but at the correct height, my feet aren't completely flat on the floor, which isn't ergonomically good, I know they have foot rests, I can try that too.

Also have to make sure this doesn't put the desk uncomfortably low and cause strain in other areas. Typically you adjust the height of your chair first, then the height of your desk, and finally the displays.

I had the same issue as yours and i unfortunately had to return mine due to neck pain.
The ASD was notably higher than my old monitor (ASUS 27” VE278Q). And thus i had to look up at ASD which hurt my neck.
I realized that the probably the problem is with my desk height.
I tried adjusting my chair and even though it helped a tiny bit, I still had to look up.
I think your best options would be to either get a VESA mount or a standing desk.

I've been curious about the height and was actually worried about it being too low for me.

Anyone know how it compares to the 27" iMac (where the image/screen starts relative to the desk)?

Looks like it's a little lower than my 2019 27" iMac. Difference between the VESA mount version height and the tilt stand is just under 12cm from Apple's website. Add on the bezel that's about 13-13.5cm. My iMac screen is 15.5cm off the ground.

Appreciate the response - thank you.

I’d wondered this myself already. Ordered the VESA mount to give me the flexibility.

I’m only 5’5” but the iMac is already too low without a riser. I’m really curious to see the OP’s setup as I cannot imagine a situation it would be too high - chin would have to be almost on the desk.

I had a 27" iMac in the past - found it slightly low but usable on my desk, so it confused me that the ASD tilt only sits even lower.
