I just recently upgraded my HDD in my Macbook Pro. Now I want to sell the old HDD but I forgot to reformat it. What program or external device did you guy use to reformat the hdd?

Any kind of SATA USB adapter will work. Here is one from newegg in canada:

Just curious as to why you suggested Newegg Canada website? The OP is in Los Angeles, California, USA... 
As mcavjame suggested, that should be what you're looking for. You could also seat it in an enclosure if you can't get an adapter. Also, Disk Utility is what's used to format the drive once it's connected to your computer.
