Just a heads up - if it's copyrighted material such as a TV show or something of that nature YouTube will remove it and send you a notice of Copyright Violation.

Rip with handbrake and then process in other ways if you prefer.

I typically use H.264 MPEG-4 compression with Quicktime Pro at 320x240 resolution with 2000kbps video rate. Gives excellent results.

handbrake seems to do the trick. actually its all non copyrighted stuff.
