Stupid Question: Charging the iPad inside the sleeve. Is it safe?

Hi, I would like to charge my 10.5 iPad while it is in Apple's leather sleeve using the included charger. Is that OK or is there a risk of heat build up or something. Thanks.

Is there a small GAP at the bottom of the sleeve? Dun think it poses any heating issues

I just set it on top of it.

The sleeve only opens at the top - no cut out for charger.

Yeah I just put it in so the lightning port is at the top then plug the lightning connection in.
