I bought an iMac a year and a half ago and my hard drive is full of music, movies, documents etc... I would like to have additional hard drive space, but I don't feel like buying a new mac.

Is there a way to replace my current hard drive with a new drive with more space? Or would you recommend buying an external hard drive? I probably could just delete movies and music I don't use but that isn't any fun :D

External terabytes are cheap now, and it'd be a lot easier to get a FireWire 800 external HDD than to open your iMac and mess around.

Yes the internal HDD can be replaced. While not technically difficult for someone that has assembled a few computers, a novice will most likely feel very challenged. You'll have to make the call on your skill level. There are a few videos and step by step instructions on the web to perform the task.

A better solution would be to get an external firewire 800 HDD.

As others have said just buy a 1tb+ external FW HD.
