I have a three year old macbook. Here are some specs:

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz

My video card is integrated...an intel GMA 950, I think.

I've been striving to achieve stutter-free HD playback on my Macbook. I've used NicePlayer, MplayerOSX, Quicktime + Perian and even Boxee. And of course, VLC. All of these players experience stuttering or visual artifacts - particularly during action-intensive parts of the video.

I'm considering getting CoreAVC for Windows (Bootcamp) for usage in Media
Player Classic. I wish one could use CoreAVC with OS X, but apparently the only player that utilizes that codec on Macs is infamously limited in use.

Any tips, recommendations, insights?

I think you might be having some other kind of issue. Let me put it this way I have a media center that runs a 1.6ghz c2d with 4gb ram and an intel 945i gpu onboard.

It can run anything upto 720p upscalling to 1080.

It'll run a 1080p file with the odd missed frame during high speed shots but it isn't unwatchable.

What kind of video? Be more specific.

This is an example:

Format : Matroska
File size : 559 MiB
Duration : 21mn 7s
Overall bit rate : 3 698 Kbps
Encoded date : UTC 2010-03-05 01:20:18
Writing application : mkvmerge v2.4.0 ('Fumbling Towards Ecstasy') built on Nov 7 2008 17:24:23
Writing library : libebml v0.7.8 + libmatroska v0.8.1

Videos like this...really all HD videos...are subject to this kind of stuttering on my macbook =(
