Just got an email promoting iPad for father's day

the layout of the iPads struck me as bizzare

I've highlighted the perceived swastika in red

I mean it does show what your seeing. Except I really just think Apple is showing the way landscape is capable on this device. Nothing serious like that.

I would imagine, since Steve Jobs is Persian, the appearance of a swastika is quite accidental.

    Uh oh.

I got the same one only BACKWARDS!

Oh wait, YOURS is backwards, mine is forwards.

Why would Apple send you a backwards, Swastika-embellished email?

You must be on the "Favored Persons" list.

I would immediately click on any links contained in that email and agree to whatever they say.

Jobs is actually half Syrian in terms of his biological parents, but was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs when he was a baby. Not that this has anything to do with anything, just figured I'd respond to the "Jobs is Persian" thing in case it gets quoted as fact later.

The swastika is not an innately evil symbol any more than the red used in Nazi flags is an innately evil color. It's an ancient symbol that the Nazis borrowed. It represents the creation of the universe and a grounded, balanced approach to life. Jobs is a Buddhist, and if he ever used it, that would be the context. However, I doubt he was standing there telling people how to arrange iPads for the picture or digitally.

But this is a bit of a conversational goose chase, because the photo doesn't show a swastika in any clear form, the photographer probably didn't have a swastika in mind when he arranged the iPads, and if he did, he probably wasn't trying to ... uh, sneak in a pro-Hitler commentary in a gadget ad (that's what we're talking about, I assume?).

The problem with your hypothesis is that you chose to trace silver edges on some paths and non-silver edges on other paths. Had you completed the non-silver tracings or followed the silver lines fully it would have been a very different drawing. What you presented is what you wanted us to see not what was really in the image.

There are a lot of problems with the hypothesis (and he's said he was joking), but that's not one. The way he traced it is internally logical and consistent.
