Subscripts

Is there a way to type subscripted numbers in everyday use, such as iChat. I searched the forums and found how to when in word and pages, but not a general use. Thanks.

You can do it if apps support it. For example Text Edit in rich text mode supports it via font baseline alteration. But iChat doesn't support this.
