well i have successfully donwgraded to 3.1.2 but now should i update to 3.1.3? and jailbrake it from there? i know how to jailbrake 3.1.2 but not 3.1.3 also i needed to be unlock thanks

What Iphone do you have? Also, unless you got a an early 3G iphone with bootloader 5.8, you can't downgrade the baseband = possible unlock even if you can downgrade the firmware. So, what is the baseband (modem firmware)?

Since you were downgrading, why did you not just downgrade to 3.1.3? Why do extra things? It's very easy to jailbreak 3.1.3. Google is your friend.
 
why did you downgrade to 3.1.2? why not (assuming you had 4.2.1 and wanted an untethered jailbreak) downgrade to 4.0 or 4.1 which is still a relativly new os and has an easy jb?
 
Why don't you keep this in the thread you started a couple days ago? It would minimize all the questions everyone else has to ask.
