Sold on craigslist for $949, $1 under the list price.

    2.66 GHz Quad
    12 GB RAM
    Radeon 4870 + NVidia 7300GT
    6GB ESATA card
1TB HDD (straight out on my new 6-core)
    Apple wired keyboard
    Brand new Magic Mouse

I suppose I should be happy with this (after getting low-balled by scam artists who thought they could land this package for under $600, including gazelle.com who offered $350). Didn't get one bid on ebay at the starting price of $799. Score one for craigslist!

Great job! Congratulations, George! Wow! Love the resale values on those.

I still haven't bought my 12 core...but will once we get the budget sorted out. Unfortunately it's a $1200 extra for 2.66 over the base 2.4!

I hadn't thought about this but I wonder if we'll be seeing 2 threads per core when the refresh comes? That might be a reason for waiting....but 2013 is so far away!

Remind me, why do you need a 12-core? The 6-core (12 threads) is way faster than the 2.66GHz 12-core for most tasks (unless you're heavily into video), while costing a lot less.

We're heavily into video with NUKE and After Effects, in addition to 3D rendering. We're hoping to render way faster than now.

Just go for it! I bet you will be able to get at least 50% of what you paid for it 2-3 years from now. My late 1,1 is still a rocking machine for the guys who bought it from me (a couple of super nice Cambodians who are trying to start a wedding photo/video business).
