Hey guys, i just wanted to share my experience trimming an international SIM into a micro SIM.

i am currently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I purchased a 3G iPad in the US before i traveled here. I took the large SIM from a stick modem i had here in Saudi, and overlaid the micro SIM from ATT that was included in the iPad when i purchased in the US, and just trimmed a little off of all the sides. Popped it in and it works with no issues. I am now getting my 3G service from Saudi Telecom...

    Anyway, just wanted to share...

I did the same thing with my iPhone sim it works perfectly, but instead of taping it because it does get annoying when I want to put it back in my iPhone I ordered a micro sim adapter.

Rogers has been a mess the last week in terms of knowing availability of both the iPad plans and Micro Sim availability. I got bored and decided to just get a regular data plan and old SIM card today and just use it until next month. Future Shop actually had the Micro SIM card's but they could they not get it to activate; it's not in their sales system either. Anyway, got home, cut the SIM down and updated carrier settings through iTunes and everything works. I did get this when I updated the carrier settings:

I tried to activate using that and it worked on the iPad but I got an e-mail saying the transaction failed.

Did you have to unlock/jailbreak the iPad to get it to work? I'm wondering because my mother-in-law that works in Haiti running an NGO is considering getting one for their clinic. They have no wifi yet, as it's incredibly expensive in her area, and she is hoping that an iPad that runs off of the local cell networks would be her answer.
