I live in SoCal, but am originally from the Netherlands. I still have a bank account there that I use. I wanted to download the Dutch bank's new iPhone app, only to find that I cannot get it as my iTunes account is restricted to US purchases only. For crying out loud, it is a FREE app! I shuttle back and forth between the US, Europe and Africa, so I can see this happening again.

Am I really gonna have to have two Apple-ID's for this??? Come on, Apple, remove those restrictions. What good are they, anyway?

Impressed with Apple's swift reply to my complaint:

Dear -----,

I understand that the US App Store doesn't have the Dutch Bank's new iPhone application. I know you must be eager to have your questions answered. My name is ------ and I will be assisting you today.

The developer of the application decides which countries they want their application to be available in. You can use the link below to request for the application to be available on the US App Store. Also, you can contact the developer and ask them to make it available on the US App Store.

The only other alternative is to create an account for Netherlands.

Apple is constantly expanding the iTunes Store's catalog of music, audiobooks, videos, and movies. To ensure that your request is considered, please submit it through the Request page at:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Take care and I hope you enjoy the rest of the day.

Sincerely,

------

Of course, part of the question remains unanswered: why can't I purchase/download stuff from the Dutch ap store with my US account???
