Hi, my 2016 Touchbar MBP developed an issue last night. While watching a video, the color of the display changed. I've tried restarting, resetting the PRAM SMC, let the battery die down and toggled all the settings in Display and Accessibility.

What I noticed is that when the laptop is on my lap and the display is open to view, it looks like this:

When I close the display halfway, it corrects and looks like this:

When I open it back up, the color/contrast shifts back to the darker display. It is repeatable, so it seems like it's a hardware issue.

Is my laptop on it's last leg or am I overlooking something? Is it worth fixing vs getting a newer one?

Thanks for the advice guys!

Thanks for the article! Unfortunately the nearest Apple store is about 150 miles away.

Here is a screen shot & a photo from my iPhone. The display doesn't look quite like the article mentions, but I assume the problem could manifest is different ways.

Contact Apple to see if they can do anything for you.

Good luck. I hope you are able to get it fixed for next to no money.
