Suddenly booting into firmware command line, CD not booting. Advise?

G4 DP 450 booting straight to firmware command line and I'm not sure how to proceed from here. Unable to boot from CD. Any ideas?

This happened to me when my G4 iBook's logic board failed.
As you have a G4, I'd search around and see if this machine experienced logic board issues.

reset the firmware but problem persists...

The inability to boot from a CD is the main clue here. This suggests a major hardware issue. You could try reseating the RAM. It's a long shot effort, but can't hurt.
