Suddenly can't collaborate on pages

Was working fine this morning, then I did the lates OS update, now collaboration isn't working, Resulting in out of sync documents and overwriting the new with old when opening.

Telling me a need a newer mac or to use iCloud...

I think you are being told to not be hasty and upgrade to Ventura before everything actually works. Right about the time when the next big version will be announced in the spring. - There may also be some local issues we cannot guess.

I’m stuck on Big Sur. 2013 15” MBP

I do have a new 14 MBP that came yesterday. Just no time to set it up yet. Just good timing!

Still odd that I’ve been collaborating fine until now.

If that's so important and you stuck in that gap, maybe temporary move to Google? (docs, sheets, etc.)
Or try constantly updating iCloud webpage so you'll notice changes
Or disable all that background movement, backups, uploads, etc. except Collab.
