I know I'm reaching here but I can't think of anything else that may be causing them.

I have suddenly started getting video adds in paid for apps that have never had adds in since I upgraded from the free version. and and am wondering if it could be a tweak I've installed?

Here's a list of everything I have in Cydia.

Anemone
Apple File conduit 2
AppList

Big Boss Icon Set
BioProtect
Bytafont 3

Ccsettings
Check
Clear Badges
Cloaky
Cydia Installer
Cydia Substrate
Cydia Translations

Flex 2
Folder Enhancer
Fusion (theme)

HideMeX

iCleaner Pro
Instabeta

Messages customiser
Muli Font

Nitrous

Pangu unteather
Patchy

Repo support

Soft for iOS 9
Speed intensifier
Substrate safe mode.

All tweaks are paid for. All apps are paid for.

Is there anything there that could be causing adds to pop up in paid for apps?

Have also emailed the devs of the apps to see if they've included it in any recent updates (although I know for sure one app that now has adds and didn't before hasn't received an update since 2013).

Obviously I can't restore and see if that helps because I'd lose my jailbreak.

If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions Please feel free to share.

I have just installed untrusted host blocker so will see how it goes but would ideally like to find the cause.

I haven't jailbroken for a long time, but how recent was your jailbreak? In the past at least there were ways apps could detect if they were running on a jailbroken device, could there be something in the app that the developers programmed them to display ads on a jailbroken device? I could see a developer programming their app to detect a jailbreak and if the device is jailbroken displaying ads to at least get some revenue from the people who pirate it and since they have no way of knowing which copies are legitimate and which are pirated they have to just go with all jailbroken devices.

It's iOS 9 and a 6s which I bought just over a month ago so not an old Jailbreak.

I have the same apps I had on my Jailbroken iPhone 5 and had no apps them.

As I said there's one app that's not had an update since 2013 (still works perfectly thankfully) and I used it on iOS 8 Jailbroken so I think had the dev done that then I would have gotten adds then.

I'm trying to think if there's any I have installed and removed but I always buy my tweaks and always pay for apps.

So what are the apps?

Bejewelled blitz.

Wifi mouse pro.

The tesco mobile app (UK provider I use the app to keep an eye on my allowance. It's a free app but has never had adds).

Sky TV app (same as above - a free app to control my sky TV set top box but it's never had adds).

Install minimal hosts blocker and you will block ads in those apps as well.

I have done. As I said in my first post.

But id rather find out what is causing me to suddenly have adds in apps that have never had them before. These are apps that haven't had an update. So that can't be the cause of it.

I'd rather get rid of whatever it is. Not mask the problem.

Do you remember any tweak(s) you installed/updated right before this problem started offering?

Erm not really. I don't recall exactly when it started. Just a few weeks back.

I did have Facebook++ installed and did try a few tweaks to attempt to stop Facebook running in the background. Non of them worked and they were all removed.

Hopefully a 9.1 JB will be along sooner rather than later and I can restore. Now I'm done 'new Jailbreak/iOS/phone' messing about' I can stick to the tweaks I have installed.

Untrusted host blocker seems to be working but I think I'll have to uninstall 1 by 1 to see what's causing it. But I'm more inclined to think it's a 'left over' from another tweak as all the ones I have installed are by respected devs and are popular tweaks. Of if they caused this I'm sure there would be more incidences noted on the forum.

Just a little update.

I emailed all the creators of the apps and have heard back from the maker of Wifi Mouse pro.

He said he had mistakenly included adds in the free version for some countries. Mine included. And would fix this asap.

I can only assume it's a server side thing because the app itself hadn't been updated since 2013. But it does connect to a server.

Did you try to clear the preference files in iCleaner Pro? Facebook ++ did have video ads in it and even though you deleted the tweak, it could still be in your preferences files. Also untrusted host blocker is different than minimal hosts blocker. You can also download No iAds recommended by the minimal hosts blocker dev. You can find it in this repo http://iostonykraft.github.io/

Could you have "accidentally" installed a pirated version of a cydia tweak by mistake that is compromised?

I've installed untrusted host blocker and it's not happened since. But I still don't know what is causing it (I'm sure it would resume if I removed untrusted host blocker).

I have double checked all my Cydia tweaks are genuine.
