sudo command not working

I've got two emacs one is actling a little ropey nothing big deal so I did a restart and ran the 'sudo periodic daily weekly monthly' command, got the password prompt, entered it...and nothing happens. None of that crunchy sound that indicates that something is happening. Works fine on the other mac.

I was wondering if this is why it is acting a bit strange, because the internal scripts haven't been running or something.

You could have been removed from the sudoers list. Try making a different admin account and trying from there.

Yes, I did that but it was the same. I ran the same sudo command on the other mac a couple of times to be sure what it sounds like while the HD is mincing around.
