Suggested iOS for upgrade w/ JB

Still have 3.2 on iPad. No SSH files.

Any suggestions for what (ideal) iOS to install that I can then jailbreak?

Also would not like the iPad to slow down (i.e. iPhone 3 with iOS4.x).
