I, for one, strongly dislike thread preview hovers, as I always find them getting in the way while I'm trying to view other thread titles.

There are a number of other folks on the forum staff who feel the same way, which is likely why it has never been implemented.

You can't just NOT hover over a title while viewing thread titles? The preview just doesn't pop-up for no reason, you need to make a concerted effort...

PLUS...those pop-up are not immediate, they require a second or so of hovering...and they disappear in 5 seconds so even if you did leave your mouse hover over a title, your annoyance would be gone in a few seconds.

I really think the higher-ups should investigate this option, it adds a great deal to the user-friendliness of the forum.

I hate those hover title things. So annoying and disruptive.

Um, Wild Cowboy is 'the higher-ups'.

Without getting into the higher-ups/friendlier/disruptive debate...:p

I guess this feature can be annoying when browsing a normal list of forum threads. And I guess it would drive you insane in the MR Forum Spy.

But I've found it very useful in another forum when viewing a list of forum search results; speeds things up no end especially with lots of search hits to wade through.

Unfortunately AFAIK the feature can't be turned off in the user CP and I also doubt whether it could just be enabled for search results and not elsewhere.

At the other forum I frequent, I really have to make an effort to make this box show up. It doesn't happen accidentally. And if it does, I move the mouse a tad and it's gone.

I really can't see why there is such a movement against this option...big enough to have it removed since it is normally on as default.

I would love it if it could be a CP option, but it doesn't sound like it?

Strangely enough there is a mouseover info box that pops-up when you hover over the "Last Post" column...and this simply repeats the same data that is visible two rows over...views and replies.

That was kept, which serves no purpose...duplicating info less than an inch away in a pop-up box, while a more helpful similar feature (giving info not readily available on this screen) was turned off?

That just shows data that's already been retrieved. It doesn't require an additional database query like the first post preview would.

This thread is headed towards being merged with the existing "Mouseover Preview" thread.

Short story is this has been brought up several times, and more people feel strongly against it than are for it. In his last post on the matter, even Arn said he didn't like it.
