I find superdrive a waste of space and weight on my 15" 2010 MBP and was wondering if there is a sort of cache that I could put to plug the slot after i remove the drive. Anyone got any suggestions?
TIA

Awesome, thanks, although I wonder if it is possible to just get the bay without the drive!!!

Either one of those you can use...but you may as well put something in there. If you aren't going to use anything, go to eBay and get a cheap optibay knock-off for like $20.

I would gladly opt-out of the Superdrive if Apple allows the inclusion of an OS-only SSD (Say 64GB capacity) and a restore solution like the one in the MacBook Air, via a USB-like stick. Then use all that space to add a better cooling solution for the chipset and more battery space

Actually, I guess I will get the optibay and add an ssd in the future when prices become more reasonable.
Thanks again!
