Suggestions for a decent LAN Messenger?

At work they have BigAnt on the PCs but i'm working on an iMac now and the Mac version of BigAnt sucks big hairy balls... any alternatives?
Also, if i use another program and try to connect to the same server as other using BigAnt, will i be able to see them and talk to them?
