My wife is insistent that we keep a baby cam on our precious little life sucking creature 24/7. I think I've settled on the Foscam, but I have a question:
We like the ability of having access to the Foscam through our phones, but we don't like the fact that we would have to unlock our phones and then go to that particular app. Were we to buy a refurb iPod Touch, would we be able to have the camera on and the app open 24/7? In other words, if we were in a different room from the beast with the Touch, would we simply be able to glance at it to see our precious bundle of bile spewing, diaper filling joy, or would we need to unlock the Touch and go to the app if we left the Touch unattended for some time?
Thanks for any insight.

Hi Anthony,
I don't know if you are still looking for an app, but I wanted to tell you about our app we just released last night designed for iOS 7 called MobiLinc Cam Viewer:
Click here for the App Store
Some of MobiLinc's features are:
- Supports over 215 camera manufacturers, including FOSCAM.
- 1-way audio monitoring.
- Supports RTSP and up to 30 FPS for supported feeds.
- Easy Wi-Fi transfer of settings from one iOS device to another iOS device.
- Specific baby monitoring features like audio breach notifications, squelch, and disconnect notify.
- Real-Time level audio graph.
- Add a virtual unlimited number of cameras to the app and organize them into groups or custom layouts.
- YouTube help videos in app to assist with setup and advanced features.
Many of our users are using MobiLinc Cam Viewer as a baby monitor. You could leave the app running on an iPod Touch as you suggested and check in on it as needed. If you turn the Disconnect Notify feature on, the app will notify you if it becomes disconnected from the camera (network issue, etc).
Send us an email to
support@mobilinc.com if you have any questions I can help with.
