I have just discovered the joys of using an additional monitor alongside my 21" Imac (2012) unfortunately that joy was short lived as my fried wanted the monitor back.

I can't unfortunately afford an Apple Display however can anyone suggest a good alternative monitor to compliment my Imac?

If someone could reply with a 'real world' example of where they have purchased one, and if they are happy/regret it.

I'm not sure what connector is best, Mini Display/HDMI.

I only use my Imac for general use, I'm not into graphics therefore there is not need for me be able to utilise/handle such quality. I just wan't to expand the useable desktop area.

I'm located in the UK

Thanks in advance.

Consider Dell UltraSharp U2515H. Comes included with the correct mDP-DP cable and works straight away. I have one myself, and it's excellent.
Amazon has good prices.

Thanks JTToft

The slightly smaller U2414 gets a slating on Amazon UK customer reviews apparently It isn't very good in dual mode. Have you experienced any problems yourself?

As I want one to use as a dual display to accompany my IMac, this one seems problematic.

Thnks

- I'm not really completely sure what you're asking. And I don't see a lot of negative reviews for the U2414H...
If by "dual mode" you simply mean using the Dell in addition to your iMac screen, I can't see that it would cause any issues.

I have no issues with my U2515H. I have used it both in addition to my MacBook Pro's screen and as my only screen with the MBP in clamshell mode (which is my normal usage). It's perfect.

Keep in mind the vastly inferior resolution of the U2414H. 1440p over 1080p makes a huge difference; it's nearly twice the resolution.
