[WIP, please let me know to add more]

So after doing a lot of reading online, It seems there are some pretty large issues with the latest Apple phones this year. I've made this post as an easy summary of all the ones I have encountered to help anyone out.

Yellow screen colour compared to previous iPhones
  • Appears to be a very widespread issue affecting the majority of the 6s/6s+ to some degree, It looks like Apple went with a different temperature this year or something. Since basically every one that I've seen has it, It's not worth returning at this point
  • Example Images of the issue:
    • WxkYkU5.png
    • oE52eai.jpg
    • dpFRZlv.jpg

General display inconsistencies, uneven backlighting, etc.
  • Once again, very wide spread and typically seems to be worse in the top half of the phone.
Example Images of the issue:
    • e0b5NLt.jpg
    • o5OdJ9k.jpg

    • E5xvMzV.jpg
    • ^ (this one is being referred to as a pressure point and is believed to be caused by the taptic engine putting pressure on the screen)

Loose or popping screen
  • This was a large issue with the iPhone 6, but appears to not have been solved in the 6s. Although speculation leaves me to believe that they attempted this by applying that adhesive around the display front panel. Regardless, people are still reporting to have this issue.
Examples:

    • ^ Same issue on the iPhone 6

Audio quality from speaker is lower / headphone output produces a buzzing noise.
  • Seems to be a new issue in the 6s/6s+ where in quite a few cases the loudspeaker does not sound as clear as the previous generations. It's also been reported that the headphone output jack and the sound it produces are subject to much greater interference as outlined below:

General sluggishness
  • Seems to be a software issue that will hopefully be resolved in the future. Some people say that turning off siri suggestions fixes it.

Speaker on my 6S+ is awful compared to my 6. High-end clarity/detail is shot to hell, it's not as loud, and begins distorting past like 70%.

I have been having sound issues. There is a crackling sound, and a few times my music played, sounding like a conference call. I have messed with the volume settings and EQ, but did not solve the crackling sound. The phone sounding like a conference call, I was able to fix with a restart, but has occurred now 3 times.

If I'm using phone in portrait mode on white background, and I tip the top of the Plus away from me, I see black marks coming down from above the menu bar, like the opposite of blacklight bleed on a black background.

Are all the Plus having this from that top edge, if you look at this extreme angle, or do some not have this?

I can also see it if it lying flat on desk and I'm a ways back from the phone, at this angle rather than looking at phone straight on like in my hands.

Thank you.

I can see a sort of "binding" effect from the bulbs I'm assuming are above the top of the display.

Also, add the "display pinch" issue, which seems to affect only 6s+, which causes the bottom left of 6s+ displays to show a weird "gray" shadow coming from the bezel.

Thanks for checking. I can't see the display pinch oddly and I have tried repeatedly now.

Does this "binding" effect at the top of the screen not bother you? Now when I have the phone flat on my desk, my eyes keep going to it, of course, it's only on white backgrounds though.

OMG. I thought I was the only one. My 6S+ distorts way earlier than my old 6 did. Also, sometimes when I place a call, there is a loud "Screech" sound that actually hurts my ear. It's random and I don't know if it's hardware or software.

I didn't vote, but my phone does freeze sometimes. I did upgrade to 9.0.1 couple days ago. I think
maybe that's why. I was just playing a game and when I was trying to move a fruit it wouldn't move.
The game is Juice Jam.

I hear a slight rattle sound occasionally when clicking the home button. It's not a huge issue, but annoys me enough to wonder whether I should return it to Verizon and get a new one or have the Genius Bar check it out.

I feel like I always get some weird issue with my home button (it being loose, stuck, etc.)..of course!

It didn't bother me when I first saw it, but eventually I just kept looking at it; it's rather distracting.

I thought i was crazy but my 6s plus looks just like the one with the taptic engine pushing on the screen. Its the same on both sides of the screen at the same height. I don't know if I should exchange it because I don't want a worse screen.

What do you guys think?

It was quite satisfying to see my pic included in here :)

I hope as many people don't have issues with their phones! Luckily, I was able to exchange mine in a timely manner :)

Was your exchange perfect? I'm going back to the Apple Store this Saturday and telling them I want a refund. Hopefully they'll let me try one more exchange and give me a refund if it's bad. My concern is that these issues might be harder to spot at the stores, since there are so many lights. But, I can usually scope out these screen issues anyway.

Yeah, I got my phone through Verizon. There is no Apple Store close to me, so I just went in Verizon and got my exchange. This one is perfect, thankfully.

Good to know, thanks! :) I got my phone at Apple, but through T-Mobile's plans. The receipt implies I can return my phone to the Apple Store though. Hoping for a perfect screen... Congrats on yours!
