Super Bowl on Apple TV, one issue possibly?

So I am currently watching the Super Bowl Pre-Game coverage on my Apple TV (4th Gen.) and everything is going fine except one thing. I read in another post that CBS was playing all the commercials even on the Apple TV stream, however, I am noticing that at least in pre-game coverage I am seeing CBS related commercials and some other brand commercials but not many.

It is not going to be any fun to watch it on the Apple TV if we do not get to see any of the commercials. Sometimes all you get to see is the CBS and Super Bowl logo with the words something like currently in commercial break. I was under the impression CBS was going to put the same exact feed up that would be on Cable/Satellite for the streaming audiences.

Who knows, maybe they are just limiting it during the Pre-Game show? Just thought I would give people a heads up.

Also, real quick...I read in the other post that people were worried about the streaming quality but as of now, and I realize the game is not on, the picture looks amazing! Hope everything works out.

I've been streaming the pre game and the CBS Sport app has been flawless thus far. The real test will be once the game starts though. I'm not really too worried about the commercials since I'm more concerned with the game.

I really debated getting a digital antenna for the game because I didn't know how reliable the stream will be. I hope I don't kick myself in the foot.
 
I personally think it will be fine. The reason I say that is because more people are going to be watching on Cable/Satellite at parties and what not vs. streaming. Obviously I know a lot of people will be streaming, however, CBS had to have some internet company come and setup more servers and optimize those servers, possibly Microsoft, since they are the official partner of the NFL? CBS does not want to go down as failing its streaming customers!

I have to agree with you Nburwell, the streaming has been flawless. My picture looks amazing right now, WAY better than my cable picture (which is my backup if for some reason the streaming crashes.)

So, I was about to use my Apple TV, but I decided I would rather be safe than sorry.

Did you see the commercials? I used cable and saw tons of CBS commercials as well (in the pre-game and during the game), so it is not just you. I personally feel like there were not that many good commercials this year.

I would love to know how your experience was for future reference.
 
It was amazing! No issues with the stream and yes we got to see the commercials which I agree most were not good at all.

This was my last hear on satellite as we are cancelling our TV sub at the end of the month. We were watching ESPN and there were ESPN ads every stoppage, plus the pre-game section was SD. Overall it was hard to watch.

The ATV app has the main plays free plus a section with all the commercials (another Transformers-based ad? Wow).

If you cut the cord really look for box store iTunes gift card sales since you can log in some streaming apps with your iTunes accounts!

I couldn't agree more. The stream didn't stall once. Everything was absolutely seamless. I'm glad I didn't go out and get a digital antenna.

I will note that when we moved into the bedroom to watch the 4th quarter, the feed was a little choppy. I think that had to do with the inexpensive TV my girlfriend has in our bedroom than the ATV3.
 
Just one instance where it froze for two seconds. Then recovered automatically. The rest was fine. I'll blame that one to our ISP.

Yeah, I'm keeping an eye out for the next card special as I will soon buy Final Cut. However, in the big stores lately there have been Apple launch-style queues of Chinese with up to a million dollars each waiting to buy them to resell the codes online for a big premium.

You must have been watching in Spanish, if you were watching on ESPN as that was the only broadcast of the Super Bowl they were allowed to stream. It was on ESPN Deportes. I cannot speak to what the quality was on ESPN as I watched the coverage through the CBS App, which was FLAWLESS. Everything was in HD including the commercials.

However, I do know that when I watch things on the Watch ESPN app on :apple: TV that most all the commercials are ESPN commercials.

Sorry your experience was not good. :(

Anyway, I think this was a huge win for the Apple TV showing that it is capable of high quality streams. Yes, I understand you have to have pretty decent internet to get the quality stream, however, most of us have internet packages that are absolutely fine. I have Time Warner Cable 50 down/10 up which in my area is the highest you can go. A Time Warner Rep did tell me that the 100down /10 up will be coming soon but I do not think I will need that until we start streaming 4k or even more. I believe I read that my current package could support 4k streaming if the Apple TV supported it.

Anyway, sorry for getting sidetracked. I think that this should ease the nerves of people who thought that any big event that was streamed on Apple TV (or other boxes) would crash due to the massive amount of people streaming said event. I would also like to get the numbers on how many people out of the total who watched, which I believe was around 140,000,000 streamed the Super Bowl vs. watching it on cable/satellite. Also, I prefer to watch events/shows on my Apple TV because it streams in 1080p while Time Warner (and all cable companies) only broadcasts in 720p or 1080i, and the sound on the Apple TV is way better going through my sound system. Most people think 1080i is better than 720p but I have read many articles to the contrary. 1080p is by far the best. Sorry, I am babbling today. Have a good one!

Nope - English via our Sky satellite service.
 
Were any of you able to watch other NFL games with your 4th Gen ATV? (i.e. Before the Superbowl weekend)

I still have Direct TV, but I would consider dropping them altogether if I could watch my weekly football games on ATV. (Monday night, Thursday night and 2 or 3 on Sunday)

I realize they are all on different channels, but does ATV have NFL game deals with all of them?

You can buy various passes, from Superbowl only to the entire season.
 
I was at a party and they switched from cable box to ATV. It looked so much clearer then the cable.

I wish NFL had a season pass app. Would rather watch it in HD clarity.
