Nice, although I'm waiting for the 500GB notebook drives to finally be released(Samsung, hello?) before I make the decision to replace the stock 160GB 5400RPM drive from my MBP. I think the 320GB models can be had for around $140-$160.

Another vote for the Samsung drive! It's supposed to be available in March, but haven't heard any news of it since its announcement.

I'm waiting for the Samsung 500GB too.

My MB 120GB is crammed full. If I replace it with a 200GB, it will be full again a week later.

With the 500GB, even if it's only 5400rpm, when it's 200GB full, it is highly likely to be faster than a full 200GB 7200rpm drive.

It means the date for these drives to be "shipping" has come and gone and nothing has been heard from Samsung.

There were a whole bunch of press releases about how the drive was 'now shipping' at the start of March, but it's still not available. The new 'available date' is May.

Just noticed the price. $299. Ouch. That means it will be about £250

I'm seriously thinking of buying this 320GB portable from Formac

Formac Disk Mini 320GB USB / FW400

and swapping out the 320GB into my Macbook (and putting the MB's 120GB into the Formac case)

Does anyone know if the Formac internal drive is 12.5mm or 9mm tall?
