Super Monkey Ball - How to Save??

Has anyone figured out how to save your progress in Super Monkey Ball so you can do something else and come back later on the level where you left off? Every time I leave the game, it makes me start from the beginning again, which is incredibly annoying and really slowing down my progress. I tried going to the Sega support site from the App Store, but I couldn't find any useful information on there.

you have to finish the first 10 levels, you can then start the next 10.
