Well lately my superdrive has been very flaky. I started when I couldn't read a photo CD from my grocery store then I bought a DVD RW and it burnt once but now it just spits it out. Now it just spat out a CD from my friend. All of these CD's have worked on my Windows PC. Is this a mac problem or just a bad superdrive?

I guess there isn't another Mac to test these on? I find the best first step for troubleshooting a bad optical drive is to reset the PRAM. Next step, I head to the shops to buy a CD-cleaner. 🙂

A buddy of mine asked me over to see what was wrong with his Mac-turns out he was trying to use beer-splattered cds. Thats a surefire way to kill your drive. Make sure they are clean.

Thanks for the replies!

I reset the pram a couple months ago but i'll try again.

The disc was completely clean. It even said it works on Mac's... well sort of: "If you are using MAC OS insert disc and open IPics..." 🙄

I wish I had another Mac to test it on...
