Superdrive/DVD question (MBP)

Hi- yes, I used the search before posting.

I have a Macbook Pro. When I insert a DVD into the Superdrive, it does not pick up that there is a disc and ejects after around a minute. The DVDs are brand new, no scratches. Imation DVD-R 8x, 4.7 GB. Any idea why they wouldn't work?

The blank disc icon doesn't appear in the finder nor in disk utility.

Have you tried a different brand? Does your Mac recognise regular commercial (non-writeable) DVDs? 🙂

I have a similar experience too, blank disk don't seem to show up on finder but they do come up in Disk Utility and Toast.

I just tried Memorex brand, they seem to work. So it's brand-dependent? Bah.

the only time that has ever happened to me is when i put in a crappy brand of cd-r/dvd-r.
make sure it's brand name like memorex or fujifilm.
