I've never seen this icon there before, and there is no information out there regarding on possible solutions. Its greyed out, and once you put the disk in, it says the disc in this drive cannot be erased. Any ideas?

Mine's greyed out too. That's normal when there's no media inserted.

Are you sure it's re-writeable media? With the disk inserted, go to System Information (opt-click on Apple menu), then Disc Burning. It should tell you what the media is, and what write speed it's capable of.

The disc wasn't rewritable hence why it said it cannot be erased. I was more concerned with the SuperDrive icon being there. Never seen this before prior install Mac os x Lion. So I suppose this is normal, even without anything in the drive.
