Well, I've ordered up my enclosure and drive. I will post up after I get them and try the combo out. I would still like to swap out my Super Drive with a DVD-DL drive.

Anyone have one for sale?

Really, try eBay. Search under either UJ 846 or UJ 847 for the DL superdrive for your PB.

SuperDrive w/ Dual Layer

Looking to upgrade my MBP superdrive. Would like to have DualLayer ability. Has anyone done this upgrade yet, I'm assuming that plenty of you have. just couldn't find a thread on it. Is it smarter to upgrade or buy an external one? Any input will be nice.

Be very careful!

Tried to use my external burner with MacBook running Leopard (it worked fine with Tiger). I got a message saying that Apple has built-in a safeguard into Leopard to prevent the use of external burners. Try burning a CD or DVD before buying.

Eh !!!!

I've been using an external dvd burner on a MacBook and Leopard for 12 months now - never heard off this. Nor have thousands of other people !

Tell us more - please !!!

PB ????

This is for a MacBook Pro replacement - if it is a 15" model you need an 857...

If it is for a 17" MBP then it is cheaper to buy a MacBook Air Superdrive and take the drive out of that !!!

Thank you for the clarification on that, I do have a 15" MBP not a 17". I was thinking about buying the MBA ex. Drive, Not any more.
